This discussion group is specifically for educators to use to exchange ideas regarding teaching work by Sherman Alexie.

A number of teachers have contacted Sherman Alexie over the years asking for help or support teaching his work, which is sometimes found controversial in schools. As we're not able to address these issues, we hope this discussion group will help connect educators who want to discuss sharing his work in their classrooms.

The majority of the members of this group teach middle or high school, but there are some members at the college level, as well as some librarians.

Discussions in this group take place via a mailing list. For those unfamiliar with mailing lists, members send mail to one e-mail address that forwards the mail to all people in the group. There are various settings for this group, which you select upon joining or can change at any time, that allow you to control the amount of e-mail you receive from the group. You can also elect to read the list online.

The teaching_alexie group is unmoderated, but members are expected to treat each other with courtesy. The list cannot be used to send chain letters or other types of spam e-mail (including virus warnings, jokes and chain letters). Personal attacks and flames sent over the group listserv will not be tolerated. Sherman Alexie does not participate in this discussion group.

To help control spam and avoid spam robots, the group owner will need to approve your request for membership to ensure you are a legitimate potential group member.
