Relocated: The New Native American Writers Frequently Asked Questions Are you accepting screenplays or plays? No. Are you accepting academic work? No. We are accepting personal essays. And, we welcome questions as to whether your non-fiction work qualifies. Are you accepting graphic literature (e.g. comics)? No. We don't have a budget to include graphic art. When is the submission deadline? July 1, 2006. E-mail if you need an extension. What do you mean when you say you'll accept "simultaneous submissions"? We will accept work that is submitted to other potential publishers during the same timeframe that you submitted it to RELOCATED. Will you consider work previously published in newspapers or on Web sites? No. We can only accept work that hasn't been previously published, regardless of the form of media where it appeared. For example, we will not accept work previously published on Web sites, in newspapers or newsletters, or school journals. Please only submit work that has not been published in any other form of media. And, please notify us if your work gets accepted elsewhere. Why is 1960 the cut off birth year for young writers? Sherman has chosen this year, which is admittedly somewhat arbitrary, not only because of its relevance to the generation of children of the relocation program, but also because of its significance in the change of American consciousness. The 1960s marks a change in politics and civil rights, as well as popular culture. Will you accept my work if I was born in 1958 or 1959 - even I was born on December 31, 1959? No. We cannot make an exception for even one person, as it wouldn't be fair to others. |
